HOT SPOT: WIFI HERTZ

I can feel there is no WiFi here, I’ll make a Hotspot

Hotspot is an attempt to add WiFi access point quantification to our sensorium. The work utilizes a microcontroller that determines how many access points there are in the area and turns on the heating pads correspondingly. The temperature ranges between the ambient temperature for 0 detectable networks and up to 150ºF if 20 or more access points are detected. 150ºF was chosen as it teeters on the border of causing superficial burns and safety as over extended periods, a burn could develop at these temperatures. This aspect creates a hyperawareness of when there are significant networks in the area, something we do not often think about and makes the wearer seek “safety” or an area with fewer networks to get relief from the overcrowding of WiFi.
