Mimicking and synthesizing reality, bio-artist James Hartunian and sculptor Christine Fashion come together as a duo connecting viewers to feelings of comfort, science and science fiction, technology and found objects.
Organic and inorganic materials call to question the role of the natural world and look to define deception. Moving throughout the space creates a visual experience; your eyes see the colors boldly at first and then naturally begin to correct and attempt to see the “true” color of the objects. The lights change the viewers experience and the role of recognizable and known color. The color shifts, the grown and fully sustained plant, faux grass and range of ceramic surfaces confronts known realities.
Operating as an indoor, site specific, investigation of color, life, and the mundane, Wavelength Wonder uses a range of materials with a variance in technology. It confronts viewers with two monochromatic immersive environments that are awash with color.
